About Me

I'm a Dallas-based writer and photographer, and web editor at the Dallas Observer, part of the Village Voice Media family of alt-weeklies.

After growing up in San Francisco, I left the West Coast for Northwestern University (B.S., magazine journalism in 2004) and Austin, Texas, (M.A., photojournalism, 2008), with stints living in Arctic Alaska, Ireland and Japan. I'm taking the long way back.

I'm interested in online storytelling, especially stories about competitive eating, remote workplaces and other unlikely outlets for big ambitions. I'm continuing work on a project on civilian contractors injured in Iraq.

For more details, here's my resume (posted October 2009).
